Aurora Renewable Carbon produces high performance bio-based feedstocks for chemical industry to substitute fossil raw materials. 

We process certified 2nd generation wood residue streams in our own biorefineries. Using a combination of advanced fast pyrolysis technology from our partner BTG Bioliquids and our specialized refining process, we have a low-cost and easily scalable method for producing bio-based lignin and sugars. 

Our highly reactive and pure lignin substitutes phenol and bisphenol A in resin formulations. From insulation panels and coatings to composites and wood adhesives, we help industries accelerate the shift to fossil-free chemistry. This allows our clients to create circular, low-carbon products at competitive pricing and performance with fossil-based alternatives. 

We operate the TRL 9 pyrolysis production plant Empyro in Hengelo with a production capacity of 20.000 ton/year and target industrial scale bio-based feedstock production in 2027 with an adjacent refining unit.
