Boris Lo is a Software Engineer currently working at Aurora since January 2021, with previous experience at Uber ATG where work focused on perception production from August 2019 to January 2021. Prior to that, Boris served as a Graduate Student Researcher at Berkeley Lab from August 2013 to May 2019, developing numerical methods for Vlasov-Maxwell Equations in a high-performance computing setting. Additional experience includes a Software Engineer Internship at Uber in 2018, where preliminary analysis on deep neural networks for spatiotemporal forecasting was conducted, along with an efficient data packing algorithm implementation. Boris interned at ANSYS, Inc. in 2017, creating a neural translation system and testing deep learning architectures for ranking systems, as well as contributing as a Research Assistant in nuclear physics at UC Berkeley from 2011 to 2013. Educationally, Boris earned a Ph.D. in Applied Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley.
