Jian Cheng, PhD, is a Sensor Systems Engineer at Aurora since June 2023. Previously, Jian served as an Autonomy Sensor Systems Engineer at Nuro from July 2021 to June 2023. Prior to that, Jian held multiple positions at Lockheed Martin, including Sr EO/IR Systems Engineer and Sr Semiconductor Process Engineer between 2017 and July 2021. Jian's experience also includes work as an external graduate student researcher at Argonne National Laboratory from 2012 to 2017 and a research intern at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center during the summer of 2013. Additionally, Jian contributed as a visiting research engineer at the Energy Resources Center from 2009 to 2013. Jian earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering/Nanoscience from the University of Illinois Chicago.
