Thomas Sturm

Thomas Sturm has a strong background in corporate development and business development, with extensive experience in the metal industry. Thomas is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Aurubis since January 2020. Prior to this role, they held various executive positions at Aurubis AG, including Executive Director of M&A and Business Development, Executive Director of Business Development for Primary Copper, Managing Director, and Executive Director of Business Development for BL Flat Rolled Products. Thomas also worked as a Senior Manager of Corporate Development at Aurubis from 2004 to 2011. Before joining Aurubis, Thomas Sturm worked as the Regional Manager for Greater China at the German Asia Pacific Business Association from 1998 to 2004.

Thomas Sturm began their education in 1990 at Liaoning Normal University in China, where they studied Chinese Language and Literature. In 1991, they transferred to Universität Hamburg and completed their Magister Artium in Sinology and Economics in 1995. Thomas then continued their studies at Universität Hamburg and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sinology in 2000.
