Mark Carey-Smith

Mark Carey-Smith is an information security GRC specialist with over 25 years of experience in the field. They completed their PhD research and served as an associate lecturer at Queensland University of Technology from 2006 to 2010. Mark held various roles, including Senior Consultant at LeadingEdgeCyber from 2020 to 2023, and Principal Consultant at Positive Cyber, where they are currently employed. They are also a Principal Analyst at AusCERT and previously served as an Information Security Manager and Principal Information Security Specialist with the Queensland Government and a local government organization, respectively. Mark emphasizes the importance of collaboration and empowerment in information security as a key element of organizational risk management.
