Stephen Durkin's work experience begins in 1987 as a Design Engineer and Project Manager at Sinclair Knight Merz. Stephen then held various roles at National Australia Bank, including Head of Sales and Marketing for the Personal Bank and Premium Financial Services division. In 2012, Durkin became the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers Australia, where they were responsible for the organization's strategic vision and plan. In 2017, they became the CEO of AusIMM - The Minerals Institute, overseeing professional development services for professionals in the mining sector. Durkin has received recognition throughout their career, including being named Victorian Young Engineer of the Year in 1993.
Stephen Durkin attended Monash University from 1983 to 1986, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Civil Engineering.
