Simon McDonnell

Simon McDonnell is a seasoned professional in machine learning and data science, currently serving as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Autodesk since August 2025. Prior to Autodesk, Simon worked at Aviva Canada as a Senior Data Scientist, focusing on the design and development of machine learning models for auto insurance applications and fine-tuning large language models like BERT. Simon began a career in data science at Bell, where responsibilities included deploying models for network health monitoring through outage detection across TV channels. Simon also contributed to product recommendation solutions at Neurolabs and developed sentiment classification models during a summer internship at JPMorganChase. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh, awarded in 2019.
