Automoda designed and built several Pontiac Fieros and a Honda Civic Del Sol into full convertibles based on a patented compact mechanism. Three cars were on display at the 1988 Chicago Auto Show and two were shown in California at the 1988 Anaheim International Auto Show.
About 50 kits were built, some of which were fitted with proprietary hydraulic struts for electric automation. Some kits were fitted to replicas.
Convertible top manufacturing ceased in 1997.
Later I modified the suspensions of a few Italian Formula Juniors race cars with two different mechanical systems, which enabled the cars to stay flat around corners or lean into them, all with standard spring compression.
