Liza King has a diverse range of work experience. Liza is currently working as a Lead NLP Research Scientist at Autoscriber. Prior to that, they worked at Shell as a Data Scientist and Data Analyst/Scientist, where they were involved in tasks such as structured and unstructured data analysis, end-to-end MVPs, information mining and NLP, data engineering, modeling and visualization, hackathons, and project scoping. Before Shell, Liza worked as a Freelance Academic Copy Editor/Proofreader, where they proofread and edited academic manuscripts. Liza also worked as a Student Research Assistant at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where they helped build and develop the speech module for a television presenter robot. Other experiences include working as an Academic Reviewer at Edge Learning Media, a Researcher at the University of Cape Town, a Research Assistant at the University of Cape Town, a Copywriter at M&C Saatchi Abel, an Intern Copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather South Africa, and an Art Department Crew Member at Props to the Stars.
Liza King completed their education in a chronological manner. In 2008-2009, they obtained a Diploma in Copywriting from the AAA School of Advertising. Following that, from 2011 to 2013, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, English language, and literature at the University of Cape Town. In 2014, they earned an Honours degree in Linguistics from the same institution. Later, from 2016 to 2018, Liza attended the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) where they completed a Research Masters in Computational Linguistics. Apart from their formal education, in August 2022, they obtained an Associate Cloud Engineer certification from Google Cloud.
