Alan Smith has over 30 years of experience in the IT field. Alan began their career in 1990 as the Vice President of Information Services for Comerica Bank, where they managed a group of 84 technical staff and seven direct reports. Alan was responsible for LAN/WAN support for the national network of 350+ Novell and Windows NT servers and 8000+ PC's in 5 states. In 2000, they became the Director of LAN and Desktop Services for Trinity Health, managing a support organization of 100+ staff in three groups with 17 direct reports, supporting 9 major hospital sites in Michigan, 4 in Iowa and over 150 clinics, nursing homes and physicians offices, on a network of nearly 12000 PC's and 450 Novell and NT servers. In 2002, they took a position as the IT Services Manager for TechTeam Global, managing a support group with 11 direct reports, supporting the corporate network infrastructure for the US and Europe. In 2003, they became a Senior IT Consultant for Ajilon. In 2004, they took a position as a Senior IT Consultant for Macomb Community College, where they worked on projects such as Disaster Recovery Plan completion, WAN infrastructure upgrade from Marconi to Cisco, Telecom Infrastructure Upgrade and migration from Nortel to Cisco Voice-Over-IP, and System wide Server Upgrade - Windows NT 4. In 2005, they became the Director of IT and Network Infrastructure for Collins and Aikman, a large Tier 1 automotive supplier to Chrysler, Ford and GM, as well as Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Alan managed a staff of 20 with 5 direct reports. In 2007, they became the Global Infrastructure Manager for General Motors, responsible for staff of 2-3 direct reports and 60-100 matrix managed contract resources. Alan managed Global IT Infrastructure, and System Integration for 52 manufacturing and casting plants globally (14 countries). In 2010, they became the Regional Network & Telecom Manager Michigan for Ascension Health, part of the national network service line and responsible for managing multiple Network Engineering and Support teams across the Michigan region, consisting of 14 Network Engineers and Technicians. Alan was also a Senior IT Project Manager for Ascension Health with TEKsystems. In 2021, they became the Fractional Chief Information Officer for Auxiom, part of the leadership team responsible for managing the Client Relationship experience for their diverse client base, consisting of over 50 client companies. Alan is responsible for any/all aspects of IT for their clients, which includes 24x7 support, network infrastructure, security, server management, network and device monitoring, cloud based technologies, end-user computing, device management, state of the art IP based telecom systems, and data backup on premises and cloud based. Alan is providing IT project management, strategic planning and execution, as well as, budget planning and forecasting, with a current scope of responsibility of 15 client companies.

Alan Smith attended Schoolcraft College from 1984 to 1987, where they studied Computer Science. Alan then attended Oakland Community College from 1987 to 1991, where they also studied Computer Science. In 2003, they attended Macomb Community College and enrolled in the Applied Science Program. Alan also attended Trinity University that same year, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
