Lee Platt has held a variety of positions in the government and private sector. In 2004, they became a Principal at MITRE, where they supported the development of requirements and the definition of an overall acquisition strategy and approach for a nationwide integrated surveillance system for Customs and Border Protection. In the same year, they also became Vice Chair of the Charles County Democratic Central Committee. In 2006, Platt was appointed Director of Navy Programs at Smartronix. In 2009, they became Vice President of Business Development at Integrated Communication Solutions, Inc., where they were responsible for overall management of the business development organization. In 2011, Platt was appointed Chair of the Charles County Redistricting Commission and Vice President of Business Development at Programs Management Analytics Technologies (PMAT). In 2012, they became a Board Member of Leadership Southern Maryland and CEO/Majority Owner of Avening Management and Technical Services, LLC. In 2021, Platt was appointed President of The Alexandria Singers.
Lee Platt's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Bryant University, which they completed between 1974 and 1978. Lee then attended the Defense Language Institute from 1979 to 1980, studying Russian. In 1985 and 1986, they earned a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. In 2010, they completed Leadership Southern Maryland. Finally, Platt attended Syracuse University - Martin J. Whitman School of Management in 2013.
