David Chong

David Chong, PhD, Scrum, serves as the Data Science and AI Practice Lead at Averis, focusing on the development of a technical vision for Gen AI and advanced analytics while leading an initiative to create an agentic AI OCR system for financial data extraction. Concurrently, David holds the position of UM ELITE Fellow at the University of Malaya, providing industry insights and curriculum advice for data science and mathematics. In addition, David contributes as a member of the Industry Expert Advisory Panel at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, shaping the Master of Computer Science curriculum. Previous roles include Technical Lead at MIMOS Berhad and ASEAN Technical Team Leader at TechSource Systems, where David led various AI and deep learning projects. David earned a PhD in Wireless Communication and a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Communication Systems from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
