Derek Shields

Derek Shields is a seasoned professional in industrial and systems engineering with extensive experience in consulting and project management. Currently a Consultant at Avid Solutions since January 2019, Derek previously served as an Automation Consultant at NNE from May 2013 to December 2018. Prior to that, Derek was a Teaching and Research Assistant at North Carolina State University and also undertook engineering internships, including a work analysis at Cummins Diesel. Derek began career development through co-op positions as a Technology Project Manager at Alcatel-Lucent and a Resource Planning Engineer at Southern Company. Derek holds a Master’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in the same field from North Carolina State University.
