Claire Brown

Claire Brown PhD is a seasoned educational leader currently serving as the Executive Director at AVID Center, a position held since March 2024. Prior to this, Claire held the role of Director of the Teaching Excellence Division at The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, where responsibilities included co-developing several key educational programs. With a background as the National Director for AVID Australia from 2010 to 2022, Claire significantly contributed to the program's expansion across the nation. Earlier experience includes administrative and research roles at multiple institutions, including associate director at The Victoria Institute for Education, Diversity and Lifelong Learning, and senior policy positions at Victoria University and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Claire's academic credentials include a PhD in Education Policy Analysis from Deakin University, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in education and English from Edith Cowan University and Curtin University.
