Jennifer Rivera

Jennifer Rivera has extensive work experience in facilities and environmental health and safety (EHS) roles. Jennifer is currently employed at Avidity Biosciences, Inc. as the Senior Director of Facilities & EHS. Prior to this, they held the role of Director Facilities & EHS at the same company. Before joining Avidity Biosciences, Jennifer worked at Heron Therapeutics, Inc. where they started as an Associate Director Facilities & Safety and later advanced to Director Facilities & Safety. Jennifer was responsible for managing the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of facilities, as well as coordinating building space allocation and layout.

Jennifer also has experience as an Independent Consultant, specializing in regulatory compliance and permitting processes for new facilities. In addition, they worked at Ardea Biosciences as the Senior Director of Operations, overseeing EH&S, Facilities, and Purchasing functions. Their responsibilities included developing EH&S policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting training programs, and managing capital improvement projects.

Earlier in their career, Jennifer worked as a Safety Officer at Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Cell Genesys, where they focused on EH&S compliance, radiation safety, chemical hygiene, and biosafety. Jennifer also assisted in the decommissioning of a facility at Cell Genesys. Overall, Jennifer has a strong background in facilities, EHS, and regulatory compliance, with experience in various leadership roles.

Jennifer Rivera attended UC Santa Barbara from 1986 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biological Sciences.
