Benjamin Smith is an experienced insurance and risk management professional with a strong background in actuarial science and data analytics. Since joining Aviva in March 2011, Benjamin has held various leadership roles, including GI Enterprise Risk Director and Head of Risk Modelling & Analytics, where the focus has been on delivering advanced data science and Capital Modelling solutions to quantify various forms of risk. Selected for the Evolution Council, Benjamin provides strategic insights to the Aviva Plc Board, enhancing engagement with senior leadership. Prior to Aviva, Benjamin gained valuable experience as an Actuarial Analyst at Barnett Waddingham. Academically, Benjamin holds a PhD in Astroparticle Physics from the University of Leeds, is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and has completed a data analytics nanodegree from Udacity.
