Tom Simpson

Tom Simpson is an experienced engineer currently serving as an AMD/Xilinx Application Engineer specializing in DSP and Machine Learning at Avnet since October 2017. Tom is recognized as a subject matter expert in ML and DSP applications, responsible for developing tutorials, reference designs, and white papers, as well as providing comprehensive technical support and assisting sales teams with presentations and training. Prior to Avnet, Tom worked at Raytheon from 2005 to October 2017, where roles included Principal Systems Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, and Electrical Engineer, with significant contributions to FPGA/firmware design and DSP algorithm implementation across multiple projects. Tom holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and another in Mathematics and Computer Science from The College of Idaho, both earned with Summa Cum Laude honors.
