David H Berger, MD, MHCM, currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Professor of Surgery and Public Health at SUNY Downstate Medical Center since August 2020. With extensive experience in various leadership roles across several prestigious institutions, Berger was previously a Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine and SVP/COO at UF Health Central Florida. As a co-founder of SyncedCare, Berger focused on transforming surgical care through integrated mobile technology, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and reduce readmission rates. Prior to these roles, Berger held significant positions at Baylor College of Medicine and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, overseeing crucial surgical services and operational improvements. Berger holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and has completed a Certificate in Healthcare Management from Rice Business. Educational credentials also include a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Binghamton University.
