John Richards

John Richards has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. John is currently working as the Chief Financial Officer at Awardco since April 2022. Prior to this, they served on the Advisory Board of Vareto, a strategic finance platform, starting from April 2021.

From 2011 to 2022, John held various positions at Domo, Inc., starting as the Director of Finance, Head of FP&A, where they oversaw forecasting, management reporting, modeling, and analysis. John then advanced to become the Sr. Director, Head of FP&A, responsible for creating a world-class FP&A team. Lastly, they served as the Vice President of Finance, leading a world-class FP&A team, playing a role in public company targets and guidance, business partnering, and strategic decision support.

Additionally, John worked as the Director of Finance, Controller at Imagine Learning from December 2010 to October 2011. John also had significant experience at Google, where they served as Sales Finance Manager II and M&A Finance Manager, Emerging Business from 2007 to 2010.

Before that, John worked at Cisco Systems as a Treasury Program Manager and Financial Analyst, contributing to various financial functions. John also worked briefly as a Consultant-Acting Controller at Tri-Valley Distributing and as a Controller and Director of Operations at O2 Blue, Inc., a startup.

Earlier in their career, John served as a Controller at DesignTeam, Inc. and Staff Accountant at Neilson Elggren Durkin & Co./Arthur Andersen.

Throughout their career, John has gained extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, management reporting, business partnering, strategic decision support, and accounting.

John Richards completed their education with an MAcc and BS degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University, where they studied from 1990 to 1997. Later on, they pursued an MBA degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the Texas McCombs School of Business, graduating between 2002 and 2004.
