Peter Schmidt is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. Currently serving as Chief Executive for the Middle East & Africa, India, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Credit and Surety Re at AXA XL since September 2018, Schmidt also holds the position of Chief Executive for Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Global Credit and Surety at XL Catlin since May 2015. Previous roles include CEO of Catlin Re Switzerland from 2010 to 2015, Member of the Group Management Board as Chief Markets Officer at Atradius Credit Insurance from 2008 to 2010, Head of Credit Solutions at Swiss Reinsurance Company from 1996 to 2008, and a position at Union Reinsurance in Credit and Surety. Schmidt completed education at Bündner Kantonsschule Chur from 1974 to 1981.
