Ralph Yamamoto has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Ralph began their career as a Scientist at Cetus Corporation in 1981 and then moved on to work as a Scientist at Chiron Corporation from 1994 to 1999. After that, they joined Bayer Corporation as a Senior Scientist II/Group Leader, focusing on Cancer Cell Biology and Functional Biology from 1999 to 2004.

In 2004, Ralph Yamamoto joined NantPharma as the Vice President of Research and Development. Ralph successfully built the Biologics arm of the company and led executive-level oversight and strategic planning. Ralph managed an annual operating budget ranging from $2M to $10M. Their tenure at NantPharma lasted until 2016.

After leaving NantPharma, Ralph Yamamoto joined Axcella in 2016 as the Senior Director of Analytical Science and Technology. In this role, they led the analytical strategy, development, and optimization to drive innovative plans aligned with cross-functional and project team goals. Ralph managed the in-house analytical lab, strategic vendor partners, and collaborated with external CROs and CMOs. Ralph also ensured compliance with regulatory and voluntary cGMP requirements for pharmaceutical characterization and development. Ralph successfully built the analytical/bioanalytical lab from inception to voluntary cGMP level of compliance, accommodating multifactorial dysregulated metabolism research, product development, and quality control.
