Philipp Schmidt

Philipp Schmidt is the VP of Technology Innovation at Axim Collaborative, having transitioned from an interim role to lead initiatives that leverage technology for educational enhancement. Previously, Philipp co-founded the online retailer SecurityPool GmbH and later established the first OpenCourseWare project in Africa while managing open education projects at the University of the Western Cape. As a Researcher at the United Nations University UNU-MERIT, Philipp contributed to a comprehensive survey on Wikipedia contributors and launched the UNU OpenCourseWare project. With experience as the Founder and Executive Director of Peer2Peer University, Philipp built a global community of over 100,000 users, focusing on open education. Philipp also held various roles at MIT Media Lab, including as a Director's Fellow, where efforts were made to innovate community-based online learning and digital education.
