Shawna Chen

Shawna Chen is a seasoned journalist currently serving as an SF reporter at Axios since October 2020, where responsibilities include co-writing a daily newsletter on local politics, culture, and community news while localizing national issues and reporting on solutions-focused stories. Previous experience encompasses roles such as breaking news reporter and news apprentice, producing numerous breaking news stories and maximizing audience engagement through SEO strategies. As editor-in-chief for The Yappie, Chen compiles news related to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues, and has also founded a newsletter focused on race and identity.
