Marcus Ruser has a diverse work experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. Marcus started their career as a Research Assistant at Université de Genève, where they conducted research in quantum field theory and cosmology. Marcus then joined Swiss Re, where they worked as a Quantitative Analyst, Actuary, and Senior Actuary, specializing in credit portfolio management and credit risk modeling. Marcus was responsible for implementing the credit & surety treaty costing model and leading a team of developers and business analysts.

After their time at Swiss Re, Marcus joined Clavis Re as the Head of Analytics, where they were in charge of designing and implementing an integrated underwriting and analytics infrastructure. Marcus provided consultant services and professional advice to clients and peers on portfolio modeling techniques, pricing, and risk accumulation tools.

Currently, Marcus is working at AXIS Capital, where they have held multiple roles. Marcus started as a VP Actuary in the Risk and Actuarial Services department, responsible for implementing actuarial techniques for pricing and risk management. Marcus then moved on to Lead Analytical Tools Development, Head of Actuarial and Underwriting Systems, and currently serves as the Head of Reinsurance and Global Pricing Systems. In these roles, they led globally distributed agile teams, developed underwriting and pricing systems, and collaborated with operations and business functions to improve processes and tools.

Marcus Ruser completed their education with a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics from Technische Universität Dresden in 2003. Prior to that, they attended Agricolagymnasium Hohenmölsen for their secondary education. Marcus then pursued further studies at the University of Geneva, where they obtained a doctoral degree in Cosmology and Quantum Field Theory in 2007.
