Melissa Smith is currently the U.S. Tech E&O Lead at AXIS Capital, having taken on the role in 2025. Previously, they served as a Senior Underwriter in Cyber & Technology at AXIS Capital from 2020 to 2025, and as an Assistant Vice President at EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, Melissa held various underwriting positions, including Senior Underwriter and Underwriter at Starr Companies from 2015 to 2018. They began their career in the Kaufman Emerging Leaders Program at Burns & Wilcox, where they worked from 2013 to 2015. Melissa graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. from Virginia Tech in 2013 and also studied abroad in International Marketing at L’Universita della Svizzera Italiana in 2012.
