Derek Hans has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Derek started their career as a Release Management Developer at Redknee in 2004. Derek then worked as a Developer at uptime software in 2005 and Morgan Stanley in 2006, where they developed tools and improved user interfaces. Derek also worked at Barclays Capital as an Analyst in 2007.

In 2008, Derek joined Microsoft as a Software Design Engineer, where they explored new product concepts and developed prototypes for Microsoft Office. Derek worked on projects such as Cortana, Surface Hub, and Sway, and conceptualized new user experience models for Office in Windows 8.

From 2013 to 2016, Derek worked at Dimagi as a Field Engineer and later as a Technical Manager. Derek managed project teams and product development for digital transformation projects across Africa, working closely with NGO teams to improve organizations' interventions.

In 2016, Derek worked as a Consultant - Product Strategist, developing platform and technical product strategies for a large-scale client organization operating in 62 countries.

Derek co-founded DeepBench in 2016, where they served as the CTO and Head of Product until 2019. Derek then transitioned to an advisory role until 2019 when they joined Azets as the Head of Product. At Azets, they managed a team of product managers, UX designers, and customer support, focusing on unifying the customer experience and leading the team through company growth.

In November 2021, Derek became the Interim Head of Technology at Azets, where they played a key role in the company's technological leadership until February 2022.

Derek Hans has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from MIT Sloan School of Management. Derek also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Additionally, Derek has some education experience at Harvard Business School, but the specific degree and field of study are unknown.
