Daniel Moldovan

Daniel Moldovan, Dr. Eng. has over 15 years of experience in various engineering roles. Daniel is currently the Director Defense Projects Portfolio at b1 Engineering Solutions, where they specialize in developing smart embedded systems for surveillance applications. Prior to this, Daniel was the Co-Founder and CTO of Stealth Mode, where they played a key role in the company's early-stage development. Daniel also worked as an STI Consultant at STI Consulting, where they advised and trained SMEs in advanced manufacturing and digitalization processes.

Before their time at b1 Engineering Solutions, Daniel held multiple positions at NTT DATA Romania, including Head of Emerging Delivery Projects and Head of R&D and Innovation Centre. In these roles, they led the development of innovative solutions for crowd analysis and privacy protection, and managed a team of engineers and data scientists.

Daniel's experience also includes working as a Senior Research Scientist at Fachhochschule Technikum Wien, where they conducted applied research in the field of Mobile and Service Robotics. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Project Assistant at Technische Universität Wien and as a Project Researcher Specialist at the Austrian Institute of Technology.

Early in their career, Daniel served as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Osaka University, where they investigated automatic detection of comfortable illumination levels. Daniel also worked as an Expert Research Scientist at NICT Keihanna Laboratories, specializing in 3D vision research, and as a Research Scientist at ATR - Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International, where they focused on intelligent robotics and video surveillance techniques.

Daniel Moldovan, Dr. Eng. has an extensive education history. Daniel obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca in 1995. Daniel then pursued a high-school education in math and physics at Alexandru Papiu Ilarian in Targu-Mures, Romania from 1986 to 1990.

Continuing their academic journey, Moldovan obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Opto-Mechatronics from Wakayama University, Japan from 2000 to 2002. Daniel furthered their studies in Japan and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Vision from the same university from 2002 to 2005.

Returning to Romania, they joined the Technical University of Cluj Napoca and earned their Dr. Eng. degree in Computers and Information Technology from 2009 to 2012. Additionally, they pursued a Japanese Language Course under the Monbusho Scholarship at Mie University in 1999.

Moldovan also has several certifications, including "Front-End JavaScript Frameworks: Angular" and "Build a computer vision app with Azure Cognitive Services" from Coursera in 2022. Daniel obtained certifications in "Front-End Web UI Frameworks and Tools: Bootstrap 4," "Geospatial and Environmental Analysis," and "Entrepreneurship 1: Developing the Opportunity" from Coursera in 2020. Daniel also completed certifications in "Fundamentals of GIS," "GIS Data Formats, Design and Quality," "Learning Docker," "Security Testing: Nmap Security Scanning," and "Learning PRINCE2" from different institutions in 2019.
