Mark Haskell

Projects Finance Manager, Associate at Babbage

Mark is the most experienced financial manager of major dairy projects in New Zealand. He is also unrivalled in his expertise in insurance placement and claims for dairy project clients, is a contract expert, and is a specialist in helping clients achieve maximum project value with minimum project cost.

Mark is an engineer but it’s in the financial side of projects that he has excelled. He developed and wrote a project management program that not only records costs and what has happened on a project, it forecasts the end costs and the planning work that still needs to be undertaken. That program, which has been continually refined and has managed all Babbage capital projects for the last 20 years, is not the first program he has developed. While operating his own business in the late 1990s, Mark developed a tender-evaluation program for Housing New Zealand that allowed it to mine and analyze data from housing refurbishment bids.

Mark graduated from the University of Auckland in 1984 and worked as a management trainee and consultant before establishing his own business in 1995. He joined Babbage in 1998. He specializes in in dairy sector projects and with Babbage project-managing more than 90 per cent of New Zealand’s major dairy processing facilities, he has a wealth of data available to help clients achieve the best financial results
