Mogie Pillay

Mogie graduated in South Africa and worked there as a Civil Technician for Consulting Engineers primarily in heavy industry such as sugar and paper mills and coal handling facilities. After arriving in New Zealand in the late 1980s he worked as a Technician at the old Works Department of the Regional Authority which evolved into Watercare. He has subsequently worked at various consultancies in the Auckland Region largely in the renewable energy sector. He has been engaged on hydro, irrigation and water supply dams as well as on wind farms in New Zealand. Some of this entailed retrofitting existing hydro dams to improve generation efficiency. Current projects in this sector include the Matawii Dam currently under construction in Kaitaia as well as the Otawere Dam earmarked for construction in Waimate North in 2023. He has been responsible for undertaking the earthworks modelling, extracting quantities, CAD drafting and detailing of the embankments and allied structures.
