Where storytelling meets community, creativity and connection.

For 25 years, Babbling Vagabonds have been creating theatre that sparks imagination, builds confidence, and brings people together. Based in Derbyshire, we work with children, young people, and families to make creativity accessible to all, especially those who face barriers to the arts.

Our work ranges from productions to school workshops, youth theatre, and community projects. At the heart of everything we do is storytelling: playful, participatory, and designed to nurture skills, inspire joy, and strengthen community connections.

We are proud to be rooted in the place we serve. Our leadership team, also the company’s founders, have lived and worked locally for over two decades giving us a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of our community.

Whether we’re filling a theatre with laughter, helping a shy young person find their voice, or giving families a magical shared experience, our aim is the same: use creativity as a tool for connection & confidence,

We create work that invites audiences to step into new worlds, whether it’s in a theatre, a woodland, a school hall, or under the open sky. Our storytelling is rooted in collaboration, and a belief that creativity can empower and connect people of all ages.

What we do:
Theatre productions for family audiences
Creative engagement projects with schools & communities
Workshops that grow confidence, skills, and imagination
Collaborative projects with artists, festivals, and heritage sites
Run a Youth Theatre for ages 6 -18

Our impact:

Over 25 years of inspiring audiences.

Partnering with schools, local authorities, heritage organisations, and festivals.

Nurturing creativity in the next generation through our REC Youth Theatre in Buxton.

We believe in the power of storytelling to make the world a brighter, kinder, more connected place — and we’re always looking for new collaborators, partners, and supporters to join the adventure.
