The driving force behind Baccanalia is the sentiment that 'we don’t live to work, we work to live.' We're a new kind of Festival & Events company, that strives to provide the people of Bishop Auckland and its surrounding towns and villages with the best possible opportunities for social, cultural and creative engagement. 

This notion of community spirit is at the heart of what Baccanalia aims to achieve through its public programme. Local people will be at the forefront of all endeavours where we’ll have the chance to engage on our own terms, in ways that suit us, within the context of our local identity and share this with those who visit. Baccanalia is a business built out of a local passion for social excellence.

The company was founded by Thomas Wales, in 2020. Having grown up in Coundon and attending school in Bishop Auckland, Thomas went on to work as far and wide as possible to learn how to produce the best possible events for the people of Bishop Auckland and South Durham.
