James van Den Berg

James van den Berg has a diverse work experience spanning across multiple companies and roles. James is currently the Regional Vice President of Technology for CEEMEA at Backbase. Prior to that, they worked at KPMG South Africa as an Enterprise Architect Senior Manager in Digital Consulting. James also held various roles at Altron Karabina, including Consulting Services Lead for Digital Applications and Modern Collaboration. Before that, they worked at Microsoft as an Enterprise Architect and Digital Strategy Advisor. James also has experience at The South African Bank of Athens Limited and Cyest Corporation. Additionally, they have worked at Richard Specialised Financial Information Technology Consulting, i-Intelligence, Entelect Solutions, and the University of Johannesburg where they served as a Lecturer and Student Assistant.

James van den Berg obtained their Bachelor's degree in Informatics from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) in 2004. James went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce Honors degree in Informatics, cum laude, from the University of Johannesburg in 2005. In 2006, James pursued a Master of Commerce degree in Informatics at the University of Johannesburg. James also attained several certifications, including CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) from the Project Management Institute and a certificate in Introduction to Capability Maturity Model Integration from Joburg Center for Software Engineering/Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute. James has continued to expand their knowledge and skills through various online platforms such as Udemy, Pluralsight, and Microsoft Services University. James has obtained certifications in cybersecurity, Azure architecture, power BI, Python programming, and business intelligence. James also holds additional certifications from Microsoft, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Customization and Configuration. In 2021, they earned the Certified WhiteHat Hacker Level 1 (CWHH Level 1) certification from Cyber Security & Privacy Foundation Pte Ltd, and in 2022, they received a certificate in Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management Systems from Asean Online Education AOE.
