Pat Patterson

Pat Patterson has extensive work experience in various technical and leadership roles. Starting as a Development Manager at JCP Computer Services in 1997, Pat managed a team working on a Java framework for secure Internet messaging. JCP was later acquired by Sun Microsystems. At Sun Microsystems, Pat went on to hold several positions, including Development Manager for iPlanet Trustbase Transaction Manager and Sun ONE Meta-Directory, Technical Product Manager, Technical Marketing Manager for Sun Java System Access Manager, Federation Architect for Sun's OpenSSO project, and Principal Engineer and Community Lead for Sun's open-source identity projects.

In 2009, Pat joined Huawei as a Principal Engineer, where they were responsible for cloud security and storage infrastructure. Pat then moved to California State University, Monterey Bay as a Lecturer in 2014, before transitioning to Salesforce in 2010 as a Developer Evangelist Architect. At Salesforce, Pat promoted the Salesforce Platform across various technologies and managed multiple breakout sessions at Dreamforce.

In 2016, Pat joined StreamSets Inc. as the Director of Evangelism, where they evangelized the company's data engineering solutions and fostered relationships with the community. Following this, Pat worked at Citrix as the Director of Developer Evangelism, leading the company's outreach to technical professionals and spearheading the "community lab" project.

Most recently, in 2021, Pat Patterson has held consultant roles at Authlete, Inc. and Backblaze. At both companies, they utilize their expertise to provide valuable insights and guidance to clients.

Pat Patterson obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Warwick from 1986 to 1990. They later pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Computing for Commerce and Industry from The Open University from 1996 to 2000. Pat also attended King Henry VIII School in Coventry from 1979 to 1986. They have additional certifications in various subjects such as project planning and management, Google Cloud Platform, big data analytics, and Salesforce.com development.
