Backer Group is a family-owned holding company. We buy great British businesses and keep them. Not to flip, not to fold into a bigger group, but to own for the long term and pass on to the next generation.

We are a husband-and-wife team, Kerim Baccari and Francesca Colantuoni. We spent our careers in private equity and strategy consulting before leaving to buy and own businesses ourselves. We are private investors, not a fund, funded with our own capital alongside a small group of co-investors, so there is no fixed exit date and no investment committee or board between a handshake and a completed deal. Because it is our own money at stake, we treat every business as owners do. When we say we will do a deal, we do it.

Because we hold for the long term, we have no reason to be disruptive. We keep the employees, the brand and the management of every business we buy, and we run each one standalone. In the businesses we have acquired so far, the staff and the customers have told us it felt like nothing changed.

We back established, profitable UK businesses with pre-tax profit of £0.5-5m. We have the flexibility to invest across sectors, with a preference for resilient, cash-generative companies. We have completed two acquisitions, UK Farmcare (veterinary testing and compliance) and Phoenix (specialist SEND home-to-school and NHS non-emergency patient transport), together generating ~£5m in combined annual profit.

If you are an owner thinking about the future of your business, or an adviser with a client who is, we would be glad to talk, in confidence and without obligation.
