WHAT WE DO:

Backyard College Counseling centers on a simple belief: there is a healthier, more humane way for teenagers to navigate both high school and the college admissions process. And, parents can help lead the way.

We offer panels, workshops, and discussions designed to protect high school, demystify the college application process, and educate parents about the admissions landscape.

Check out what past Backyard participants have to say about our work.

WHO WE ARE:

In 2020, Backyard College Counseling began as a series of casual conversations among three admissions professionals, friends, and mothers. In the intervening years, we have grown into a trusted resource for families seeking clarity, balance, and expert guidance.

Proprietors of separate college counseling firms with 75 years of combined admissions expertise, Kate, Lauren, and Sarah are frequent and animated collaborators with closely aligned counseling philosophies.

Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and well-being.

High school is an essential time of growth, not merely preparation for the college admissions process. At Backyard, we celebrate students’ unique strengths and encourage kids to pursue authentic engagement in their communities. Young people who know themselves well and remain true to their values will - when the time is right - experience rewarding college processes, and make more successful transitions to college.

If you are a member of a school, parent group, or community organization seeking more thoughtful, intentional conversations about college admissions, we would love to partner with you.
