Art Director at Bad Elf

Matt Ryan has a long and varied work experience. Matt began their career in 1995 as an intern at Mark Lewis Creative Arts. From 1997 to 2009, they were the President and Chief Illustrator of The Mine Studio / Free Lunch Comics, a freelance artist providing cartooning and illustration commercially as well as teaching for groups like the Greater Hartford YMCA and the Farmington Valley Arts Center. Matt also ran an independent comic book production house for various age and interest groups. In 2001, they began teaching at the Farmington Valley Arts Center. From 2005 to 2009, they were a member of the Comicbook Artists Guild, coordinating meetings, workshops, and trips for the state of Connecticut. In 2010, they became the President of the Granby Artists Association. Since 2009, they have been the Owner, Freelance Artist/Cartoonist, and Educator of Free Lunch Studios, offering courses in drawing, writing, cartooning, and creating comic strips and comic books. Additionally, they have been a freelance artist for Guild Works Productions since 2005. In 2020, they became an Art Director at Bad Elf, LLC.

Matt Ryan attended Tunxis CTC from 1992 to 1995, where they earned an Associates in Visual Fine Arts and Graphic Design.
