Jim Stern

Jim Stern is an accomplished executive currently serving as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, Strategy, and Secretary at A. O. Smith Corporation, a position held since 2025. Previously, they were the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at the same company from 2007 to 2025, where they played a key role in leading global strategies and expanding into the North American water treatment market. With legal experience as a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP from 1992 to 2007, Jim has a strong background in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and compliance. They hold a JD from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, along with completion of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Additionally, Jim has served on the boards of several other companies, including Badger Meter and Jason Industries, bringing valuable insights from their extensive international experience in water technology.
