Badges & Breakthroughs is a first responder–focused mental health and wellness MD nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to supporting the people behind the badge, and the families who stand beside them. We blend real-world experience with trauma‑informed, evidence‑based education to help agencies and individuals move from surviving to truly thriving. We seek to assist in preventative and post incident training and consultations for first responder agencies and their families. 

We partner with law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatch, corrections, and other public safety agencies to build sustainable, in‑house wellness and support systems—not one‑off, check‑the‑box trainings. Our work is grounded in lived experience, peer support, and collaboration with licensed clinicians through our partnership with Driftwood Psychotherapy, LLC.

Agency services include peer support program development (design, policy guidance, member selection, training, and ongoing consultation), resilience and wellness training for sworn and professional staff, leadership and command staff workshops on psychologically safe culture and critical incident support, and department‑wide mental health education and stigma‑reduction initiatives.

For individuals, we provide nationwide virtual first responder mental health and wellness peer support, coaching, & therapy for responders, veterans, and family members, focusing on cumulative stress, trauma, transitions, and relationships. Through our online community and the Badges & Breakthroughs Podcast, we offer peer connection, education, and real stories that normalize seeking help and break the culture of silence.

Through our Badge & Bone Initiative we offer: Second Chance Service Dogs & The Partnership Never Ends- a K9 Rehabilitation Program. 

Badges & Breakthroughs exists to shatter stigma, foster connection, and equip first responders and their families with practical tools to heal, without judgment and without having to explain the job.
