Badlands Hotel Capital (“Badlands”) is a dedicated hospitality investment and advisory platform operated by professionals with deep sector experience.  Badlands was founded in 2020 and is led by Mike Barnello, Steve McKenzie, and Al Young, who have a combined 90 years of experience in the hospitality industry and have been collectively involved in over $10B in transactions.

Mike and Al spent the last 10 years as CEO and COO, respectively, at LaSalle Hotel Properties. Steve founded Channel West Group (CWG) in 2010 and prior to the formation of CWG, Steve spent the prior 15 years as Managing Director with Eastdil Secured.

Badlands aims to use its extensive experience in the lodging space to be a trusted and respected leader in the investment and ownership of hospitality real estate. Our success will not only lie in our ability to source and underwrite attractive hotel investment opportunities, but also in our ability to create and implement asset specific strategies to maximize operating results and ultimately drive valuations.
