Daniel Smith

Senior Engineering Manager - Space Vehicle Simulators

Daniel Smith has extensive experience in engineering and software development, beginning as a research assistant and teaching assistant at Brigham Young University where investigations focused on unmanned aerial and ground vehicles. After transitioning from academia to industry, Daniel worked as an Embedded Software Engineer II at Ball Aerospace from April 2004 to October 2010, contributing to the development of flight and test software. Following that role, Daniel held various engineering management positions at Western Digital, including Principal Engineer for Firmware and Engineering Manager II for Simulators, and is currently a Senior Engineering Manager at BAE Systems, Inc. since February 2024. Daniel holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and two master’s degrees in Engineering Management and a graduate certificate in Embedded Systems from the University of Colorado Boulder.
