John Grimes

John Grimes has extensive experience in the aerospace and defense sectors, currently serving as the Director of Space Systems RFx at BAE Systems, Inc. since June 2017, focusing on space mission payloads and systems. Prior roles at MIT Lincoln Laboratory from September 2007 to June 2017 included Director of Small Satellite Strategy and Director of Distributed Estimation, Fusion, and Integration Directorate. Grimes began a career in research at Johns Hopkins University from 2002 to 2007 as a Research Assistant, examining galaxy outflows and the inter-stellar medium, complemented by earlier experience at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics where responsibilities included mission operations for NASA’s Chandra X-ray satellite. Grimes holds a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy from The Johns Hopkins University and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Chicago.
