Steve Shaffer

Steve Shaffer is the Safety, Health, and Environmental Director at Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA. Previously, Steve served as the Safety Management System Leader at United States Steel, where they successfully led the implementation of the company's inaugural Safety Management System. Prior to this role, Steve was a Senior Manager within the Global Operations Auditing team at Mylan, developing the first EHS compliance auditing program and ensuring adherence to safety standards in 14 countries. Steve started their career at Westinghouse Electric Company, where they held various roles, including Global EHS Implementation Lead, facilitating the implementation of a comprehensive EHS Management System. Steve holds a Bachelor's degree in Safety and Environmental Management and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in safety management from West Virginia University.
