Sharon Bowen is currently a Board Member at Bakkt. Prior to this, they served as Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from January 2014 to December 2017. Before their time at the CFTC, Sharon was Vice Chair and Acting Chair of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) from January 2010 to December 2014.
Sharon began their legal career at Latham & Watkins in January 1988, where they became a partner. Sharon then moved to Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in January 1982, where they worked as an associate until 1988.
In addition to their work in the legal industry, Sharon is also deeply involved in advocacy for women in business. Sharon is a founding member of Seneca Women, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women through leadership development programs, mentoring, and networking.
Sharon Bowen has a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Law from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. Sharon has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Virginia.
