Jake Swick has held a variety of work experiences, beginning with their role as a Community Action Development Intern at DeKalb County Community Action Department in 2016. Jake then held a YEP Intern (Youth Engaged in Philanthropy) position at DeKalb County Community Foundation in 2015. In the same year, they held three positions at Northern Illinois University, including NIU Foundation Student Director, McKearn Research & Honors Fellow, and TLC Pear Leader: Making a Difference in Society. In 2016, Jake co-founded ClassValue, an EdTech Social Enterprise, and served as the Chief Academic Officer. In 2021, they became the Director of Security & Property Management for Broken Oar Marina-Bar & Grill, and in 2022 they began working as a Researcher for BallotReady.
Jake Swick began their educational journey in 2013 when they attended Kishwaukee College and studied English Language and Literature/Letters. Jake then moved on to Northern Illinois University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science & NGO Administration/Management, with a focus on International Development/Policy & Social Entrepreneurship in Education/Technology. Finally, they attended the University of Illinois Chicago, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Political Science and Government.
