Karon McFarlane

COO at Baltimore Corps

As Vice President of Programs, Karon has overall strategic and operational responsibility for all program areas. As a member of the executive team, she helps to drives the overall strategy for the organization and oversee the departments responsible for all elements of the program life cycle ranging from strategic planning, to execution and evaluation. Karon has knowledge of each project, program operations, and business plan, and her work focuses on the following areas: organizational leadership and management, internal relationships, program and knowledge management.

Background: Karon is passionate about seeing communities thrive and use the resources in their own neighborhoods to advance at all levels. She supports the Executive Team with her expertise in maximizing growth and impact in organizations and communities. Karon brings more than 15 years of nonprofit management experience to her role at Baltimore Corps. Prior to joining Baltimore Corps, she worked with World Vision, advancing from Community Engagement Program Manager to National Director of Community Engagement. She also has experience developing and implementing tutoring and mentoring programs for children and youth, working with youth-based organizations and ministries to create programs focusing on youth development and coordinating community organizing activities focused on advocacy. Karon has served on multiple boards and advisory councils, including the Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York and Challenge Charter School Network. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Alabama, a M.P.A. from Syracuse University, and an Ed.M. in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
