Derek Petersen

Derek Petersen is an experienced engineering manager and software engineer with a strong background in backend development and technical leadership. Currently serving as an Engineering Manager at BambooHR since November 2017, Derek has played a vital role in major company initiatives, including the rollout of new Bamboo packages and supporting engineering teams on product features. Prior to this, Derek held various positions at BambooHR, including Principal Software Engineer and Tech Lead, where responsibilities included leading the monetization team and addressing critical issues with accounting software integration. Previously, Derek contributed to the migration of a legacy codebase to a new Lumen framework at SalesRabbit and developed features for both frontend and backend applications. Derek began their career as an Accountant at Adobe Workfront after earning a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Brigham Young University.
