Richard left full time employment with Christies, the Auctioneers, in ‘86 to create his own dealership specialising in Posters he remained their Consultant and oversaw the expansion of the successful Vintage Poster department. 
It grew to having up to 5 sales a year in London as well as poster auctions in New York and Amsterdam. During this expansion he advised museums and collections worldwide, both for Christies and his company. 
The Victorian & Albert Museum in London, the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, the wine Museum in Osaka, Japan and the Peace Museum in Hiroshima all used his services. 
In 1997 he founded, with colleagues the IVPDA (International Vintage Poster Dealers Association) of which he has been on the board since inception and is the incumbent VP Europe.
In 2004 he finally left Christies and moved with his family to Western France after living 30 years in London. With the advent of the internet he runs his UK business from France and travels extensively.
In 2007 Bloomsbury Auctions recruted and asked Richard to create a Vintage Poster department. He now holds 2 auctions a year in their London rooms.
