Ari Mäkelä is currently the Chief Executive and Head of Banking for the Nordics at Barclays and has been serving as Vice Chairman of Nordic Investment Banking and European Industrials at BNP Paribas since 2022. Previously, Ari held positions as Managing Director at both Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers, focusing on Nordic investment banking and advising on M&A and capital market transactions. Ari's career began at McKinsey & Company as a Junior Associate, followed by roles at Citi and Alfred Berg, where they specialized in investment banking services. Ari holds two Master's degrees, one in International Business and Finance from the Helsinki School of Economics and another in Physical Education from Jyväskylän yliopisto.
