Dean at Bard College

As chief academic officer, Dean Deirdre d'Albertis works with the president and the faculty to advance the central academic purpose of Bard College.

Dean d'Albertis is responsible for faculty affairs and the undergraduate curriculum. She oversees faculty recruitment, evaluation, and promotion. As coordinator of the undergraduate academic program, the dean is attentive to college-wide matters and interdivisional interests. She assists faculty committees in their work on the curriculum and on academic policy. The dean upholds academic standards from admission to graduation. She also assists the divisional chairpersons and the president as they uphold standards of faculty responsibility as established by faculty action. In conjunction with the registrar, the dean maintains academic statistics, conducts studies of academic programs, compiles records of committee and faculty actions, and maintains a faculty handbook describing academic policies and regulations. Dean d'Albertis works with the associate deans and the dean of studies to develop the academic curriculum and student academic life. She is a Professor of Literature.
