Barefoot Technology Academy is a STEM-focused, fully virtual microschool for bright, gifted and twice-exceptional teens who are ready to go beyond worksheets and test prep. We believe that young people learn best when they’re doing real, meaningful work: creating, building, coding, and questioning the world around them.

Our students are curious, intense, and often underserved by traditional schools. They’re the ones who light up when solving a problem, deep-diving into research, and asking all the “what if?” questions.

We offer project-based learning, driven by student interest and exploration, alongside a core curriculum of discussion-based learning. Students work towards mastery of core and advanced competencies, and create a large portfolio of real work.

At the heart of our approach is a strong STEM focus. Science, technology, engineering, and math are woven into projects that challenge students to think critically, design creatively, and apply their knowledge in real-world ways.
